Benefits of vitamin E

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, meaning that it dissolves in fat and can be stored in the liver and adipose tissue. It is a fundamental vitamin for the functioning of our body, from the cardiovascular system, our immune system, the nervous system and even the muscular system. It is a vitamin included in the Supradyn ® formula along with other vitamins and minerals that help our cells to function correctly, keep our immune system active and provide us with the energy we need. But what are its properties and benefits?

Properties and Benefits of Vitamin E

  • Antioxidant: Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin whose functions are closely linked to its antioxidant properties. Vitamin E protects cells from free radicals, molecules that are formed when the body breaks down food and converts it into energy. These molecules can cause cellular damage, which can influence different diseases such as cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, vitamin E keeps the body healthy and delays ageing.

  • Improves the appearance of the skin: thanks to its antioxidant properties, vitamin E delays cellular ageing and also helps with healing and atopic dermatitis.
  • Helps to form red blood cells: Vitamin E is involved in the formation of red blood cells, which are responsible for transporting oxygen to the tissues, and widens blood vessels to prevent the formation of clots. After the age of 40, the body accumulates less vitamin E, so to keep the heart and other muscles healthy, it is important to include a vitamin complex in the diet that includes vitamin E among its vitamins and minerals.

Where can we find vitamin E?

Vitamin E can be found in some foods such as:

  • Vegetable oils: such as sunflower or olive oil. Sunflower oil contains the highest amount of vitamin E.
  • Nuts: sunflower seeds, hazelnuts or walnuts, pumpkin seeds.
  • Green leafy vegetables: such as spinach or broccoli.
  • Fruits: some fruits like kiwi or blackberries.

The intake of vitamin E in a balanced diet may not be enough.
